Job summary
We are seeking a clinical or counselling psychologist to work in the North Islington Core team. North London Foundation Trust (NLFT) community mental health services are undergoing widespread, innovative transformation, and Core teams are at the forefront of this. We are developing a more holistic, recovery oriented, biopsychosocial approach to supporting people with mental illnesses, in partnership with primary care, other community NHS providers and the voluntary sector.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing assessments, formulations, and interventions (individual and group) to those presenting with severe mental health problems in the London borough of Islington. This would require a sound knowledge and experience of CBT and other evidence base interventions in both groups and individual contexts. They will also support and offer liaison, education, supervision, and consultation to GPs, members of the multidisciplinary team and the wider Primary Care Network.
Postholders will be part of newly developing Virtual Psychology Hubs within each borough as well as being integrated within the MDT. This will support more effective co-ordination and delivery of psychological interventions within the borough.

Person Specification
Qualifications/Registrations Essential
Doctoral level training in clinical psychology or counselling psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society or the British Psychological Society Statement of Equivalence and other relevant qualifications in CBT Current registration with the Health Professions Council as a clinical or counselling psychologist
Skills/ Abilities Essential
Skills in the use of a range of methods of psychological assessment (including psychometric tests) intervention and management for the full range of problems of severity and complexity presented in adult mental health, including challenging behaviours. Specific knowledge of severe mental illness. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS Ability to offer a multi-theoretical formulation and to communicate this in a clear and concise manner Ability to form good working relationships with others in a multidisciplinary setting and experience of working jointly with other professional disciplines Ability to work flexibly and creatively according to the needs of local primary care services Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings

Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
Experience/ Knowledge Essential
Experience of psychological assessment and treatment of service users with sever mental illness and comorbidities. Experience of working with a wide variety of service users that reflect the full range of clinical severity. Experience of teaching, training and offering effective consultation. Postgraduate-level knowledge of research methodology, research design and data analysis as practised within the clinical fields of psychology.

Ability to form good working relationships with others in a multidisciplinary setting. Evidence of ability to manage reasonable levels of work place stress
