Make a meaningful impact on individuals on their recovery journey. North London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Associate Mental Health Worker to join the multidisciplinary Eating Disorders Service based at St Ann's Hospital.
Working under the guidance of registered clinicians, this role provides compassionate, recovery-focused care to inpatients, supporting daily therapeutic routines and helping service users on their recovery journey. The position involves working directly with families, collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, and facilitating a supportive ward environment.
Main duties of the job
Meal Support: Assist service users directly during meal times, providing encouragement and interventions to manage meal-related anxiety as outlined in their care plans.
Therapeutic Care Delivery: Deliver evidence-based individual and group interventions under the indirect supervision of registered practitioners, focusing on recovery, personal wellbeing, and nutrition.
Care Planning & CPA: Actively contribute to multi-disciplinary care planning, Care Programme Approach (CPA) reviews, and clinical risk assessments alongside patients and their carers.
Community Integration & Escorting: Escort service users on planned ground or community leave to build confidence and facilitate social inclusion.
Clinical Documentation: Accurately update clinical systems ( RiO), maintain progress notes, and report vital patient observations to the nurse in charge and medical staff.
Ward Coordination & Environment: Maintain safe, clean ward standards, assist with equipment stock, manage patient property/mail safely, and ensure all incident reporting adheres to Trust safeguarding and health and safety policies.
Supervision & Mentorship: Provide peer support and guidance to healthcare assistants (HCAs) and actively engage in regular clinical and line-management supervision.

Job description Job responsibilities
The post holder will work as a member of the inpatient nursing team. AMHWs are an integral part of the team and work closely with the patient in supporting their meals, liaising with the wider team, communicating with family members. They will assist and support nursing, medical, and other professional staff in the delivery of high standards of holistic centred care to the patients.
The AMHWs are expected to adherence to agreed instruction, whilst being guided and supported within Trust procedures and policies. As part of the wider Team the post holder will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care to patients and service users as part of Inpatient Eating Disorders Team, working under the direct supervision of a registered member of staff. This will involve being responsible for carrying out practical tasks, identified as part of the patient's and service users care plan or care pathways including meal support, and supporting patients to manage anxiety.

Education/ Qualifications Essential
Degree qualification in relevant area

Master's degree or equivalent level of experience.
Experience/ Knowledge Essential
Experience of working in a care setting Basic understanding of mental health condition and its effect on day to day living. Understanding and knowledge of the role of Health Care Assistant and caring for patients
Desirable
Experience of working with patients with an Eating Disorder Service within Eating Disorders services. An understanding of the roles of multiprofessional team members Knowledge of statutory and non-statutory agencies. Experience of working in a team.
