Job summary

Help shape the future of healthcare through research.

We're looking for a motivated and organised individual to support the delivery of clinical research studies. You'll work closely with research teams, healthcare professionals and patients to help recruit participants, coordinate study visits, collect and manage data, and ensure studies are delivered to the highest standards.

What you'll do:

Support the set-up and promotion of clinical research studies. Identify and recruit eligible participants. Coordinate appointments, questionnaires and study procedures. Collect, maintain and process research data and documentation. Work collaboratively with clinical teams to ensure excellent participant care. Support audits, governance requirements and study compliance. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills and a passion for improving patient outcomes through research.

Main duties of the job

To collaborate with relevent departments to streamline trial setup, promote NIHR studies with clinical services and/or within the communities, and attend clinical meetings. Screening medical records against strict protocols, identify eligible patients, obtain informed consent, and handle electronic randomisation. To schedule appointments, prepare visit documents/equipment, record vital observations (BP, heart rate, temperature), and safely Transport and process blood samples. To accurately transcribe data from medical records into electronic or paper Case Report Forms (CRFs) and resolve data queries. To Maintain strict compliance with ICH-GCP guidelines, update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and manage site files for audits. To act as a flexible team player across a Monday-Friday 9-5 service, managing stakeholder enquiries with confidentiality.

Person Specification

Qualification and Training Essential

A level/NVQ Level 3 qualification in Administration Health or Science or equivalent experience in the same areas. Evidence of continuing professional development and willingness to undertake further training.

Desirable

Degree/ higher education or equivalent Good Clinical Practice certificate (GCP) Awareness or training in Informed Consent with Adults Lacking Capacity.

Experience Essential

Relevant clinical experience in a patient-facing healthcare clinical role OR proven, relevant experience as an administrator working within busy environments, dealing with people at all levels and contributing in a positive, proactive manner. Evidence of comprehensive administrative experience including the use of Microsoft Office software (including Word, Excel, Power-point and Outlook) Proven experience of working independently on projects/tasks, ability to work as a team member & on own initiative.

Knowledge Essential

Foundational knowledge of how research is delivered in NHS. An understanding of confidentiality issues Ability to support and educate colleagues, patients and carers.

Desirable

Understanding of clinical research governance process

Skills Essential

Good Literacy skills & attention to detail. Able to prioritise and manage time effectively. Well-developed organisational skills and ability to multi-task, working accurately, particularly when dealing with conflicting deadlines & adapt to changing circumstances. Professional attitude to work, diplomatic and calm under pressure. Participate in and contribute to team discussions.
