About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Officer role to join our Financial Accounting team at the Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting appointment and offers the chance to directly work in the Trusts accounts payables function. Working closely with the financial accounting team, the successful applicant will be involved in daily work of Trusts accounts payables - assisting payables invoices and dealing with of aged creditors, and other functions. The post holder is responsible for assisting the trust daily financial accounting tasks and monthend and yearend processes.

Main duties of the job

o To provide Account Payable function and other financial service function in ensuring all financial accounting processes are completed accurately and within the deadlines set out in the Finance Systems Timetable.o Be able to work on their own and as part of a team to process creditor invoices in Account Payable.o Working with NHS Shared Business Services (SBS), suppliers and internal Trust staff to improve efficiency, quality & timeliness of payments and information regarding payments; resolve disputes or escalate issues if necessary.o Work with payables team for the processing and issuing of all invoices, for amounts due or payable to/ by the Trust.o Providing ad hoc cover to other area of Financial Services.o Providing contribution to the Trust's Monthly, Year End reporting processes and the annual Agreement of Balances exercise, ensure that the Trust's financial controls are maintained.

Job description Job responsibilities

To provide Financial Transactions and other financial service in the delivery of an efficient and professional financial accounting service to the trust and stakeholders. To provide the provision of accounting and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues.

To assist the Finance Function with a particular focus on accounts payable using the ledger to produce information, works within Finance Department policies and procedures to agreed timetables and will be expected to seek advice to deal with ad hoc tasks.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or equivalent), Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent experience in a finance environment Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

AAT Level 2, 3 or equivalent accounting qualification Working towards AAT qualification

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Experience working within an Accounts Payable, Finance or Transactional Finance function. Experience processing high volumes of invoices accurately and to deadlines Experience dealing with supplier queries and resolving issues professionally Experience using financial systems Experience using financial systems and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reconciliation Experience working with procedures, controls and service level agreements

Desirable

NHS finance experience, or large matrix-style organisation Experience using Oracle, SBS systems or similar ERP platforms Experience of PEPPOL, e-Invoicing or purchase-to-pay processes. Experience supporting process improvement initiatives Experience training or supporting colleagues
