Job summary
Fixed term contract until 31 March 2026, 15-20 hours per week. Applicants must be an independent prescriber with an active GPhC registration.
The post holder will provide clinical leadership to ABC's team of Non-Medical Prescribers including Clinical Pharmacists, Advanced Paramedic Practitioners and Advanced Nurse Practitioners.
As ABC continues to recruit and embed non-medical prescribers to support its clinical team, the role will have a strong focus on the integration of these teams to facilitate enhanced team-working and improved service efficiencies and capacity. The role will provide leadership to ABC's non-medical prescribers, including regular clinical supervision and one-to-ones, review of clinical consultations, quality improvement, prescribing, incidents and holistic support and mentorship.
Main duties of the job
Strategic Planning and Service Development
To provide expert leadership, governance and oversight for all Non-Medical Prescribers and non-medical prescribing activityTo ensure that non-medical prescribing practice is safe, legally compliant, evidence based and aligned with national and local frameworksTo lead the development, implementation and evaluation of ABC's non-medical prescribing strategy and appropriate quality improvement projectsDevelop and maintain robust clinical governance arrangements for non-medical prescribing including audits, incident reviews and safety monitoring

Quality Improvement and Data Oversight
Monitor prescribing trends within the non-medical prescribing teamEnsure service and prescribing audits are completed, reported and actions followed up as necessaryIdentify improvements and developments in non-medical prescribing activity, working closely with the appropriate Service Manager(s) to ensure implementationLeadership, Workforce Development and Line Management

Supervision
Regular supervisions on a one-to-one basis including an annual formal appraisal will be held with a line manager. If you are in a patient-facing role, you will also receive regular Clinical Supervisions with a Clinical Supervisor.

You will receive an in-depth induction programme and will be invited to a face-to-face induction day within your first week to give you relevant information about the organisation and your job role.

Experience Essential
Experience in service redesign and/or pathway development Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, high-quality care and evidence based practice Demonstrable commitment to improvement, innovation and reflective practice Experience of working across clinical and operational teams across primary care or system-wide settings. Experience of workforce models for Non-Medical Prescribers including competency frameworks, supervision requirements and scope of practice boundaries Experience of audit and quality improvement Significant and evidenced post registration experience Clinical experience of working autonomously within an appropriate setting including physiology, assessment, clinical reason and decision making

Qualifications Essential
Registered Independent Prescriber with active licence to practice Active registration with GPhC Independent Prescribing Qualification MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice/MSc Pharmacy
