An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Children's Nurse to take on the Team Leader role in the Children's Community/Continuing Care Team.

The Children's Community/Continuing Care Team is a service within the Bradford District concerned with providing short term out of hospital care to children with time limited illnesses in addition to supporting families with Children who have complex needs over an extended period of time.

To come and join our team you will need to have a sound knowledge of the management of a variety childhood illnesses, be able to work autonomously and take on new challenges. You will have experience of service development and a keen interest in safety culture and quality improvement.

The successful applicant will have a positive attitude towards their work and be well subscribed to the Bradford Teaching Hospitals corporate trust values.

A current full UK / EU driving licence is desirable in addition to access to a vehicle to carry out duties and attend meetings at multiple sites.

Main duties of the job

The Team Leader will be responsible for the management of a large team of staff and ensuring the provision of highly specialised nursing care and advice. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and management skills and the ability to use available resources to provide a consistent seven day service to the children and families of the Bradford District.

The post holder will be responsible for planning, implementing and delivering children's nursing services within the community. The role carries overall responsibility for the day to day co-ordination of the care delivered to children who require both nursing support and continuing care within the community setting. This is both for children with complex needs to children who require time limited nursing interventions. The emphasis of the post will be quality improvement and effective clinical nursing leadership. The post holder will ensure all aspects of quality and safety are integral to the care delivered to children. The post holder is also responsible for on-going evaluation of services. This will be completed through ongoing audit with a focus on shaping future services to local needs

Experience Essential

Significant post-registration experience in paediatric nursing Experience in managing a team and individuals to achieve positive outcomes Experience of workforce planning and delegation to ensure the skills and experience with children's community services is utilised to enhance and improve care. Experience of working in an MDT and across organisational and professional boundaries Experience of Involvement in quality improvement

Desirable

Experience of training and competency reviews in relation to performance management. Experience of working in children's community nursing services. Proven experience in supporting service delivery change models in relation to improvements in children's community nursing. Experience of service user involvement in the evaluation of children's community nursing services.

Skills Essential

Excellence in interpersonal and communication skills (Emotional intelligence) Clinical credibility in paediatric nursing Evidence of leadership skills and change management Excellent time management and self- organisation skills A proven ability to manage, motivate and empower others. Proven evidence of change management skills A proven ability to manage complaints at a local level and, recognise when a patient's experience is less than optimal and taking action to mitigate a complaint.
