Job Requirements Senior Backend Java Developer (general) Job Description: We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer with strong experience in Java and Spring Boot to design, develop, test, and deploy scalable backend services. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end development of containerized microservices and will work closely with the broader engineering team to deliver reliable and maintainable solutions. The role also requires the ability to provide technical direction to team members and contribute to engineering practices across development, deployment, and support activities. Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop scalable, containerized microservices using Java and Spring Boot. • Take ownership of backend features from solution design and implementation through testing and deployment. • Develop and integrate RESTful services and APIs for application and platform requirements. • Build solutions that are suitable for Docker and Kubernetes-based environments. • Work with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including application-level database integration and data management. • Develop and maintain integrations with distributed and event-driven platforms such as Kafka. • Troubleshoot application issues, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to performance and reliability improvements. • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, testing, and continuous improvement activities. • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other developers within the team. • Collaborate with frontend developers, architects, DevOps engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions. • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, development planning, estimation, and delivery activities. • Ensure adherence to coding standards, version control practices, and established engineering processes. Mandatory Technical Skills The candidate should have hands-on experience with:
• Java and Spring Boot • Development of REST APIs / web services • PostgreSQL and relational database concepts • Kafka and experience with event-driven or distributed systems • Docker and Kubernetes • Experience deploying and supporting applications in containerized environments • Familiarity with web/application servers such as Nginx, Apache, or equivalent • Git and standard source-code/version-control practices • Experience working with Java development environments/IDEs such as IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, or equivalent • Understanding of microservices architecture and associated development practices Experience & Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. • 6+ years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on backend development exposure. • Good understanding of software development lifecycle and enterprise application development. • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Good organizational and time-management skills. • Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, and drive tasks through completion. • Strong communication and collaboration skills. • Good working proficiency in English, both written and spoken, for collaboration with distributed teams. • German language skills would be an additional advantage.
