Job Title: Saw OperatorJob DescriptionThe Saw Operator sets up and operates industrial saws, including Hem saws and Tsune saws, to cut metal materials accurately and safely in a warehouse and industrial environment. This role supports material handling and general warehouse operations by filling orders, pulling material, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area. Responsibilities • Operate industrial saws, including Hem saws, Tsune saws, and chop saws, to cut metal materials according to job specifications. • Read and interpret job specifications to determine machine adjustments, cutting requirements, and material needs. • Follow established order-filling procedures to ensure accurate and timely completion of customer orders. • Measure workpiece dimensions using a tape measure to verify accuracy and quality of machine operations. • Complete work orders and production sheets with all required information, including lot numbers, tag numbers, purchase orders, and packaging details. • Cut material from remnant stock and return unused material to rem stock in an organized manner. • Observe machine operations continuously to detect workpiece defects, irregularities, or equipment malfunctions. • Perform basic preventative maintenance on saws and related equipment, such as oiling machines and checking for proper operation. • Report any irregularities, defects, or mechanical issues to the supervisor for further direction. • Support warehouse material handlers as needed, including pulling material and assisting with general warehouse operations. • Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition at all times. • Adhere to all safety procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety shoes, and safety glasses. Essential Skills • Proven ability to operate industrial saws, including Hem saws and Tsune saws, in a metal-cutting environment. • Hands-on experience using a chop saw to fill and complete material orders. • Strong proficiency in using a tape measure to verify workpiece dimensions and ensure cutting accuracy. • Experience working with metal materials, including steel and aluminum bar stock, in an industrial or warehouse setting. • Ability to read and understand job specifications and translate them into appropriate machine adjustments and material requirements. • Capability to follow established order-filling procedures with attention to detail and accuracy. • Skill in identifying workpiece defects and recognizing machine malfunctions during operation. • Basic mechanical aptitude to perform routine preventative maintenance such as oiling machines. • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area and following all safety guidelines. • Ability to complete documentation accurately, including work orders and production sheets, with all required information. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with industrial material handling in a warehouse environment. • Familiarity with working around raw stock steel and aluminum bar stock. • Comfort working with specialized industrial equipment in a production setting. • Strong attention to detail and quality when measuring and cutting materials. • Ability to work collaboratively with warehouse material handlers and other team members. • Willingness to follow supervisory direction and report any irregularities promptly. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Fe Springs, CA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
