Job Title: Press OperatorJob DescriptionThe Press Operator uses molds and presses to produce first-article and regular production parts in a timely and accurate manner with minimal supervision. This role follows written manufacturing procedures, recognizes deviations from accepted practices, and works collaboratively within a team environment to ensure high-quality output and safe operations. Responsibilities • Operate press machines to create parts using molds according to written procedures and production schedules. • Clean and prime parts using appropriate chemicals and solutions to meet quality standards. • Measure stock to verify correct thickness and length before and during production. • Place various materials by hand into molds, on mandrels, or in build fixtures as required by each job. • Weigh stock and scrap to track material usage and identify salvageable material. • Monitor individual production output to identify bad parts and detect defects early in the process. • Use production equipment and tools, including calipers and scales, on a regular basis to ensure dimensional accuracy. • Complete materials handling and production recordkeeping in accordance with company and ISO standards. • Follow internal safety policies and procedures at all times while operating presses, handling materials, and using chemicals. • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area, including setup at the start of the shift and cleanup at the end of the shift. • Collaborate effectively with coworkers within a team environment and communicate any issues or deviations from standard practice. • Perform other duties as assigned by production leadership, including Working or Production Lead, Planner, Production Supervisor, and Module Manager. Essential Skills • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs safely throughout the shift. • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for length and thickness measurements. • Proficiency using hand tools to fabricate and finish parts. • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with production machinery and tools. • Strong attention to detail to identify defects and ensure parts meet specifications. • Good hand dexterity for placing materials in molds, on mandrels, and in fixtures. • Ability to work with minimal supervision while following written procedures. • Ability to get along well with coworkers and work effectively in a team environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience working on a production line or in a manufacturing environment. • Experience as a finisher or in finishing operations is beneficial. • Skilled in the use of hand tools and measuring equipment, including calipers, depth gauges, micrometers, scales, and other production tools. • Comfort working with chemicals, solvents, and industrial materials following safety guidelines. • Combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of specific formal education requirements. • Ability to recognize deviations from accepted manufacturing practices and escalate issues appropriately. Work EnvironmentThis role is based in a manufacturing plant environment, working directly on the production floor with presses, molds, and related equipment. You will work under variable environmental conditions, including temperature instability and atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and vapors. The position involves exposure to solvents and other industrial chemicals, with safety policies and procedures in place to manage these conditions. The work is physically active, requires frequent lifting up to 50 lbs, and involves standing, handling materials, and using hand tools and measuring devices throughout the shift. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mcminnville, OR. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.30 - $24.20/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
