Job Title: Production SupervisorJob DescriptionThe Production Supervisor leads and coordinates daily manufacturing activities to ensure that production teams follow work instructions, meet schedule requirements, and maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This role interprets specifications and job orders, assigns tasks to employees, and oversees the entire shifts performance while driving continuous improvement across processes and working conditions.Responsibilities
• Ensure production teams perform all work in strict conformance with established Work Instructions and standard operating procedures. • Interpret specifications, job orders, and production requirements and clearly communicate them to employees while assigning duties and tasks. • Establish or adjust work procedures and staffing to meet production schedules and changing priorities. • Coordinate, compile, and complete accurate and thorough production reports for the entire shift, including key metrics and issues encountered. • Interpret company policies for workers and ensure consistent enforcement of safety regulations and workplace rules. • Recommend and implement changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency within the shop, department, and among employees. • Analyze and resolve work-related problems on the production floor, or assist employees in solving operational and process issues. • Develop and suggest plans to motivate employees to achieve production goals, quality standards, and continuous improvement targets. • Address employee concerns and problems in a timely manner and escalate unresolved issues to the Operations Manager as needed. • Initiate contact with maintenance, engineering, quality, or other support functions to obtain assistance with emergency maintenance and operational problems. • Create and submit work orders for maintenance activities and ensure timely follow-up on repair and upkeep needs. • Review, approve, and manage employee timecards and overtime in alignment with operational requirements and company guidelines. • Support and promote continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and process improvement projects within the production area. • Oversee assembly and manufacturing operations to ensure consistent output, quality, and adherence to industrial and automotive industry standards. Essential Skills
• Proven experience supervising and managing workers in a manufacturing environment for at least a couple of years. • Hands-on production supervision experience with responsibility for daily operations and shift performance. • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and manufacturing processes, including assembly activities. • Demonstrated supervisory skills, including task assignment, performance oversight, and conflict resolution. • Ability to interpret and apply work instructions, specifications, and job orders accurately. • Experience enforcing safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment. • Production management skills, including scheduling, reporting, and coordination across teams. • Capability to analyze work problems and implement practical solutions on the production floor. • Effective communication skills to interpret company policies and provide clear direction to employees. • Management skills in approving timecards, overseeing overtime, and aligning staffing with production needs. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Blacksburg, VA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $39.00 - $39.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
