Job Title: PackerJob DescriptionThis role focuses on packing food products such as hummus and salsa in a refrigerated food and beverage production facility. You will work on one of three shifts, support the operation of filling machines that dispense product into plastic containers, and help maintain consistent quality and accurate packaging. The position requires comfort working in cold environments, wearing full food-grade PPE, and following established processes to ensure food safety and product integrity.Responsibilities
• Operate and support filler machines that dispense hummus and salsa into plastic containers, ensuring accurate fills and consistent product flow. • Perform visual inspections of product, packaging, and labels to confirm quality standards and identify any defects or irregularities. • Use scales to weigh product and packaging, adjusting weights as needed and accurately adding or subtracting to meet specified targets. • Package finished products, including sealing, labeling, and preparing items for shipment or further processing. • Navigate computer interfaces to complete basic tasks, such as entering data, toggling through screens, and following on-screen instructions related to production and quality checks. • Use hand tools and production equipment safely to support packaging and inspection activities. • Move continuously throughout the shift while performing multiple tasks, such as loading containers, monitoring machines, and conducting inspections. • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and PPE requirements, including wearing lab coats, hair nets, beard nets, and rubber gloves in designated food areas. • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with food and beverage production standards. • Collaborate with team members and communicate any equipment issues, product concerns, or safety hazards to ensure smooth production operations. Essential Skills
• Ability to perform visual inspection of products, packaging, and labels to ensure quality and accuracy. • Capability to lift up to 40 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift. • Comfort using a computer, including navigating screens and toggling through applications on devices such as smartphones or computers. • Experience using a scale and understanding weights, including adding and subtracting to achieve target measurements. • Ability to stay on your feet and move continuously while handling multiple tasks at once in a production environment. • Willingness to wear full food-grade PPE, including lab coat, hair net, beard net, and rubber gloves, as required in food areas. Additional Skills & Qualifications
• in food and beverage production is beneficial but not required. • Experience in industrial or automotive environments is a plus. • Familiarity with industrial equipment such as filling machines and mixers that operate on pneumatics and hydraulics with valves and hoses. • Strong reliability and consistent attendance, with dependable transportation to support scheduled shifts. • Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with clear food safety and quality standards. Most work areas are refrigerated and kept cold to maintain product quality and safety, so you should be comfortable working in low temperatures for extended periods. You will be required to fully suit up in appropriate PPE, including a lab coat, hair net, beard net, and rubber gloves, whenever you are in designated food processing areas. The position follows three shift options: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The standard schedule runs Monday through Friday, with Saturdays mandatory and occasional potential work on Sundays, reflecting a busy, production-focused environment Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ferndale, MI. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $14.00 - $14.50/hr.
