What are we looking for?
The Inspector will be responsible for performing necessary volume measurements, sampling, calculations, documentation, and reporting to ensure that our customers receive an independent, accurate, and complete assessment of the quantity and quality of materials. This role is crucial in supporting our goal of providing a service that is accurate, timely, and cost-effective. This position will involve travel between Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Shift/Schedule: On call, to include nights weekends and Holidays

What you’ll do:
Conduct volume measurements and sampling of materials in accordance with established procedures and standards Perform calculations related to quantity and quality assessments Document findings accurately and comprehensively, ensuring all records are up-to-date and accessible Prepare and submit detailed reports on inspection results, including any discrepancies or issues identified during assessments Collaborate with team members and clients to address any concerns and provide clarification on inspection findings Maintain a thorough understanding of industry standards and regulations to ensure compliance in all inspections Utilize appropriate tools and equipment for measurements and sampling, ensuring they are calibrated and maintained Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge related to inspection practices Support the team in achieving operational goals and objectives while fostering a culture of safety and quality This position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities: Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent At least two years of relevant petroleum inspection, cargo surveying, terminal, or marine inspection experience Demonstrated experience performing shore tank gauging, including product level, free water, temperature, and sampling Experience calculating observed and standard volumes using tank calibration tables and applicable temperature and density corrections Working knowledge of volume correction factors, including CTL/VCF calculations, and the ability to convert quantities between barrels, gallons, cubic meters, and metric tons Experience applying floating-roof corrections and other applicable tank corrections Experience performing vessel measurements and cargo calculations, including ullages, temperatures, free water, trim and list corrections, wedge calculations, vessel capacity tables, and vessel experience factors when applicable Ability to identify, investigate, and clearly report ship/shore quantity discrepancies Familiarity with relevant API MPMS and ASTM petroleum measurement and sampling practices Experience obtaining representative manual or automatic samples from shore tanks, vessels, pipelines, trucks, or railcars Ability to prepare accurate field documentation, quantity reports, time logs, statements of facts, and Letters of Protest when required Strong mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Valid driver’s license and a reliable driving record Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a TWIC card Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Ability to work a flexible and on-call schedule based on operational needs, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 45 pounds Ability to climb stairs and vertical ladders and safely perform physically demanding work aboard vessels, at terminals, and in outdoor environments. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple assignments, and communicate effectively with clients, terminal personnel, vessel officers, laboratories, and internal operations teams
Preferred Required & Qualifications:
Associate’s degree, technical certification, or additional education in engineering, chemistry, maritime operations, or a related field Three or more years of petroleum inspection or cargo surveying experience Experience with refined products, crude oil, chemicals, lubricants, or other bulk liquid cargoes Experience training or assisting junior inspectors Familiarity with electronic reporting systems and Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word Current TWIC card and relevant industry safety certifications
