Position Summary Siouxland Christian School is seeking a dedicated, engaging educator who loves God, loves teachers, and loves kids to serve as a Long-Term Substitute High School English Teacher. The candidate will assume instructional and classroom management responsibilities for 10th–12th Grade English Language Arts courses during a staff leave of absence. This role requires delivering high-quality, Biblically integrated literature and writing instruction, maintaining a supportive classroom environment, assessing student progress, and collaborating with school staff. State teaching certification in Secondary English Language Arts is strongly preferred. Applicants must be a born-again Christian and have a deep reverence and love for the Bible. Key Responsibilities
• Instruction & Biblical Integration:
• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards for High School English (literary analysis, essay writing, grammar, vocabulary, and critical reading) while integrating a Christian worldview.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the varying academic and spiritual needs of students.
• Utilize educational technology tools (e.g., Alma, Google Classroom, or other learning management systems) to facilitate learning and course communication.
• Classroom Management & Culture:
• Maintain a safe, structured, and Christ-centered learning environment that fosters respect, engagement, and spiritual growth.
• Establish clear rules and conduct expectations consistent with school policies and Biblical principles.
• Assessment & Communication:
• Evaluate student coursework, papers, and assessments in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and performance records in the school portal.
• Communicate proactively with parents, guardians, support staff, and administration regarding student progress or concerns.
• Professional Responsibilities:
• Attend scheduled department meetings, faculty meetings, and opportunities for staff spiritual development as required.
• Follow all school policies, safety guidelines, and professional ethical standards.
Education Requirements
• Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Secondary Education, English Language Arts, or a related field required.
• Certification (Strongly Preferred): Valid State Teaching License/Certification in Secondary English Language Arts (Grades 7–12 or 9–12) or Iowa teaching license/equivalent. Candidates holding a valid Substitute Teaching Credential combined with a strong background in English literature or writing will also be considered.
