GENERAL INFORMATION
Title: Head Coach - Varsity Boys/Girls Swim Department: Heritage High School Salary Grade: Coach Pay Scale FLSA Status: Exempt
Site/Location: Heritage High School Reports to: Athletic Director Date: 09/29/2026
POSITION SUMMARY
• Responsible for recruiting, teaching, and coaching student athletes in the sport of swimming and in specific cases, diving.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Instructs student-athletes in the rules, techniques, and equipment to become better swimmers or divers.
• Organizes and directs individual and group practice activities off campus with a specified training facility.
• Monitoring student-athletes during practices and competitions.
• The coach must also be capable of completing essential paperwork assigned by the Athletic Director and school system.
• The coach must also attend assigned rules clinics assigned by the Virginia High School League on a yearly basis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Previous coaching experience is preferred.
• Experience in swimming meets and techniques is essential.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Must have completed or completed a mandatory coaches certification under the Virginia High School League.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
• None
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
• Minimal travel may be required to and/or from sporting events within neighboring localities.
