Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or equivalent and vocational certification in trade field. • Four (4) years of experience in one or more building crafts. • Two (2) years of experience supervising a large number of employees. • Valid Florida driver’s license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate’s degree from an accredited institution. • Six (6) years of experience in one or more building crafts. • Four (4) years of experience supervising a large number of employees. • National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification. Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills. • Knowledge of pertinent regulations, codes, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignment. • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention. • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications. • Ability to assist and coordinate personnel in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale. • Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance. • Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints. • Review work orders/job requests and determine daily, weekly, and monthly priorities. • Make appropriate work assignments for personnel and establish a contingency plan when personnel are absent. • Monitor work assignments by on-the-job observation and feedback from site personnel. • Give instructions in a clear and easily understood manner. • Instruct personnel on the performance of specific tasks when required. • Use a computer to write and maintain reports and to respond to electronic mail. • Inform the designated administrator of problem areas or problems in work completion. • Keep school personnel informed of progress on work orders. • Prepare maintenance schedules for routine upkeep of equipment and facilities. • Participate in the planning of new school facilities. • Provide customer-friendly service. • Ensure appropriate materials are available to complete work orders. • Investigate and gather information from multiple sources to resolve problems. • Meet with subordinates and school personnel to resolve problems. • Evaluate the performance of subordinates. • Recommend disciplinary action in accordance with Board policies. • Participate in the hiring and training of new personnel. • Work effectively under time constraints, personnel shortages, and multiple requests. • Keep current with health, safety, and building regulations. • Conduct inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure adherence to regulations. • Purchase materials and rent equipment for larger jobs. • Prepare, execute, and maintain departmental and bid budgets. • Comply with applicable safety procedures and regulations.
