About this role
Position Summary The Nashua-Plainfield Community School District is seeking a dedicated and student-centered High School Assistant Boys Track Coach to assist with the development and supervision of student-athletes. The coach will promote skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, safety, and a positive athletic experience while supporting the district's boys track program. Qualifications
• High school diploma required.
• Previous coaching or athletic experience preferred.
• Knowledge of track and field skills, techniques, and training methods.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with high school students.
• Ability to maintain required coaching certifications and state qualifications.
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification and other required training, or ability to obtain as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Coach and instruct individual athletes using appropriate strategies and techniques to improve skills and performance.
• Assist with planning and conducting a regular practice program during the season.
• Promote discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, dedication, and positive behavior.
• Establish and communicate team standards, expectations, and procedures to student-athletes.
• Serve as a positive role model and demonstrate sportsmanship, self-control, and dedication.
• Provide leadership and cooperation in coaching methods, techniques, strategies, and instruction.
• Work closely with the Activities Director and coaching staff to schedule practices, meets, and interscholastic contests.
• Assist with monitoring and enforcing eligibility and performance requirements for participation in competition.
• Monitor the safety and condition of facilities and activity areas while students are present.
• Recommend equipment, supplies, and uniform needs to the Activities Director.
• Maintain current certifications, trainings, and state qualifications.
• Work cooperatively with the head coach, Activities Director, administrators, students, parents, and other district personnel.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Activities Director or administration.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, run, and actively supervise practices and meets for extended periods.
• Ability to demonstrate track and field techniques, drills, and conditioning activities.
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive physical movements.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment as needed.
Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in school gymnasiums, outdoor track facilities, fields, and other athletic venues. Evening and occasional weekend practices, meets, and events may be required. Terms of Employment Work schedule, season length, stipend, and other terms of employment are established by the Nashua-Plainfield Community School District Board of Education and applicable district policies and agreements.
