About this role
The University of North Carolina System Laboratory School initiative was established by the North Carolina General Assembly to provide enhanced educational programming to improve student performance and to plan demonstration sites for the preparation of future teachers and school administrators. Appalachian State University operates the App State Academy at Middle Fork. The purpose of this position is to provide personal assistance and instructional support to students served by Exceptional Children services under the guidance of certified Exceptional Children educators. This position will assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, mobility, academic support, and behavioral management. Graduation from high school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Four-year degree (e.g., in education, psychology, or related fields) CPR certification Previous experience working with students with special needs Prior experience in a school setting
