LOCATION: Administration Building REPORTS TO: Payroll/Benefits Supervisor SALARY: $28.47/Hour - $34.15/Hour Base (Based on degree and related experience) SCHEDULE: 8 Hours/Day, 12 Month Position QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate's degree in related field (Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, etc.), required. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Two years of work experience in payroll and employee benefits for a mid-size organization, required.
• Knowledge of applicable state and federal labor laws impacting payroll and employee benefit programs.
• Strong understanding of payroll tax, fringe benefits, and compensation laws.
• Evidence of good oral and written communications skills, required.
• Experience working in UKG Ready and AS400 HRIS system, preferred.
• Experience with interpreting and administering provisions of multiple collective bargaining agreements as they relate to payroll, benefits, employee status, and compensation, preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manages current electronic timekeeping systems for various labor and at-will employment groups.
• Validates absence records between absence management systems and district payroll software.
• Coordinates benefits and open enrollment activities alongside Payroll/Benefits Team.
• Updates direct deposit information as submitted by employees for accurate pay transmission.
• Processes employee 403b and 457 election changes as submitted to OMNI and updates payroll records accordingly.
• Maintains employee records by reviewing and entering changes in status, exemptions, deductions, etc.
• Completes employment verification requests for wage information.
• Assists with employee benefit reconciliations by monitoring employee deductions, billing staff for outstanding balances, and auditing benefit invoices.
• Conducts employee trainings for payroll and benefits-related modules, such as UKG.
• Maintains knowledge of HRIS and labor laws by active engagement in MISD Payroll and Personnel User Group trainings and other related professional development opportunities.
• Assists with meeting payroll operational benchmarks by managing processes; maintaining accuracy, quality, and excellent customer service standards; resolving problems; and identifying system improvements.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
