Job Description: La Salle Academy is a Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory school, rooted in the traditions of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (the De La Salle Christian Brothers) offering a comprehensive curriculum. Founded in 1871 and located in the heart of Providence, La Salle Academy serves a student body of 1560 students in grades 6 through 12. La Salle Academy has as its mission the education of young men and women of diverse backgrounds, with a special concern for the working class and the poor, in the tradition of St. John Baptist De La Salle's ideals of faith, service, and community. La Salle Academy is seeking a dynamic and well-rounded educator to join our Religious Studies department. The primary responsibility for the position is teaching Religious Studies, with opportunities to instruct required courses Introduction to Christianity and Scripture. We are looking for passionate educators who can engage students in inquiry-based learning, foster curiosity, develop critical thinking and writing skills, and contribute to a collaborative academic environment. Educators from any Religious Studies background are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
• Teach Religious Studies to high school students.
• Have the ability to teach at all levels, from College Prep to Honors.
• Develop engaging lesson plans that incorporate critical thinking, writing skills, and real-world applications.
• Utilize technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning.
• Assess and support student progress through differentiated instruction.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and contribute to the Religious Studies department.
• Participate in school activities, professional development, and extracurricular programs as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Education, or a related field.
• Masters degree in Theology, Education, or a related field, is preferred
• Experience in inquiry-based Religious Studies instruction preferred.
• Effective classroom management and communication skills.
• Passion for fostering student engagement and critical thinking.
