About this role

This job posting is for all individuals interested in teaching positions in the Boston Public Schools in the 2027-2028 school year. Upon submitting your application to this posting, our Recruitment team will pre-screen your application materials and, pending review, may invite you to a virtual pre-screening interview this fall or winter. Pending the results of that screening, you may be invited to be a part of the district's priority candidate pool for SY2728. School leaders will have early access to the candidates in this pool, enabling them to reach out to interested candidates prior to the official district posting of jobs in March 2027. This posting is for core content teacher candidates only. It is not intended for: specialist teachers, guidance counselors, ABA Specialists, BCBAs, social workers, school psychologists, school librarians, adjustment counselors, student services coordinators, paraprofessionals, principals, heads of school, school secretaries or assistants, custodians, assistant principals, other school leadership or central office positions, or substitute teachers. By applying to this position, you are demonstrating a commitment to BPS and to our students, and your application materials will be available to all school leaders who have openings for the upcoming school year. Who We Are As the birthplace of public education in this nation, the Boston Public Schools (BPS) is committed to transforming the lives of all children through exemplary teaching in a world-class system of innovative, welcoming schools. We are seeking exceptional educators who are highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, leaders, and learners. In BPS, we serve over 46,000 students who speak more than 70 different languages and come from more than 130 different countries, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe. 73% of our students identify as Black or Hispanic, 51% of our students speak a language other than English as their first language, and 70% of our students are low-income. BPS has some of the most groundbreaking programs for early education, students with disabilities, arts education, technology, and English Language Learners. The teachers and leaders are committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap among subgroups within the schools. With this, we aim to root out racism, create and sustain supportive and affirming school culture and community for all students, particularly those who have been traditionally marginalized by actively addressing and transforming racist/biased policies and practices. We encourage our teachers and staff to continuously work to develop their own racial/cultural awareness alongside their colleagues (and authentic relationships) to allow for cultural learning and understanding with students and families in order to continue efforts for all. BPS is a great place for those who seek to work in an environment that supports their creativity and innovation and respects their skills and abilities as an educator and advocate of children. Qualifications: At minimum, candidates must have:

• A valid Massachusetts Educator License for the appropriate content area(s) and grade level(s) by the first day of the starting school year.

• A Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited College or University both within the United States and/or Internationally.

• The ability to understand and meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice as specified by the MA DESE.

• A current Authorization Certificate and appropriate identification to work in the United States.
