About this role

Osseo Senior High School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and student-centered individual to serve as our Head Speech Coach. Job Summary: To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning as a Head Speech Coach. Position Overview The Head Speech Coach will provide leadership and direction for the Osseo Speech program while creating a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment for students. The coach will help students develop confidence, communication skills, critical thinking, teamwork, and excellence in competitive speech. Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and organization for the Speech program.

• Recruit and encourage students to participate in Speech.

• Teach and develop students across a variety of speech categories and events.

• Plan and conduct practices, meetings, and competition preparation.

• Coordinate tournament schedules, registrations, transportation, and competition logistics.

• Supervise students at practices, tournaments, and other program activities.

• Communicate effectively with students, families, school administration, and the Activities Department.

• Recruit, organize, and provide direction to assistant coaches and program volunteers when applicable.

• Maintain accurate program records, rosters, and required documentation.

• Promote sportsmanship, professionalism, inclusion, and positive representation of Osseo Senior High School.

• Follow all Osseo Area Schools, Activities Department, conference, and Minnesota State High School League policies and expectations.

• Build a program culture focused on student growth, belonging, accountability, and excellence.

Preferred Qualifications Successful candidates should demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, experience working with high school students, and the ability to provide positive leadership. Previous coaching, competitive speech, debate, theater, communications, or related experience is preferred.
