• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively over a two-way radio.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of school transportation operations, routing, scheduling, and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with drivers, aides.
• Proficient in Google Docs and Microsoft Office.
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor SUPERVISES: All Transportation personnel. JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation for the students of Gloucester Township within the established guidelines of Federal, State and local laws and policies. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Communicate effectively and professionally with bus drivers, bus aides, school
• personnel, parents/guardians, and transportation staff both in person and over the two-way radio.
• Dispatch daily transportation assignments for regular school routes, field trips, athletic events, and other district transportation needs.
• Post, coordinate, and award field trip and athletic/sport trip assignments.
• Monitor daily bus operations and respond to delays, route changes, breakdowns, absences, and other transportation-related issues.
• Make necessary routing and scheduling adjustments based on changing transportation
needs and operational circumstances.
• Arrange coverage for regular transportation routes when necessary, including splitting
runs and reassigning transportation assignments.
• Coordinate substitute drivers and assist with daily staffing and transportation coverage.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide clear, accurate communication and
direction over the radio.
• Review and address student transportation discipline matters, maintain appropriate
documentation, and communicate concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Coordinate and schedule front-door and rear-door school bus evacuation drills in
cooperation with the Transportation Supervisor.
• Maintain accurate records of transportation assignments, incidents, discipline matters,
field trips, athletic trips, and other transportation activities.
• Exercise sound judgment, remain calm under pressure, and prioritize student safety when
addressing transportation issues.
• Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
COMPENSATION: As per the Gloucester Twp. Central Administration Support Group contract minimum starting salary $44,000.00 BENEFITS: Medical, Dental, Prescription and Vision insurance available for all employees and their eligible dependents. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months VACATION: In accordance with current District vacation policy. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
