About this role
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher learning, OR hold an associate's degree, OR have passed the Teacher Parapro praxis exam.
• Must obtain an Educational Aide Permit with ESEA Qualifications through ODE prior to the first day of employment.
• Must possess experience working with children with multiple and behavioral disabilities.
• Must pass a BCI/FBI background records request
• Some heavy lifting required.
• Must complete CPI and Safety & Violence Training within the first 60 days of accepting position.
GENERAL DUTIES:
• Perform clerical duties such as recording information, filing data and preparing instructional materials as required by the teacher.
• Collect data on individual student progress.
• Assist students with their academic subjects, social skill development, and other non-academic areas as directed by the teacher. May be regular education classroom or resource room.
• Follow established behavior management strategies as developed by the teacher.
• Assist students with independent seatwork assigned by the teacher.
• Assist with supplementary work for students and supervise independent study.
• Reinforce learning with small groups while the teacher works with individual students.
• May often have to work with emotionally upset children.
• Must be capable of lifting in excess of 50 lbs.
• Be willing to assist students to learn self-help and hygienic skills (e.g., toileting, eating, grooming, and dressing).
• This position will assist in the personal care of students with the multiple disabilities classroom.
