Athletic Trainer FLSA Status: Exempt School Year: FY 2026 To learn more about Harwood Unified Union School District and our schools, visit https://huusd.org/our-schools Position Overview Harwood Unified Union School District is seeking a qualified and motivated Athletic Trainer to support the health, safety, and athletic development of middle and high school student-athletes. Key Responsibilities Athletic Training & Student Wellness
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, families, and healthcare providers.
• Provide injury prevention education and physical wellness support for student-athletes
• Strong communication skills and sound judgment in evaluating and managing student injury care.
• Provide immediate care and coordinate referrals to medical professionals as needed
• Evaluate, treat, and manage athletic and orthopedic injuries or illnesses
• Design and implement rehabilitation, reconditioning, and strength/conditioning programs
• Assist coaches with team physical development and off-season training
• Ensure implementation of safety and student well-being protocols
• Provide athletic training coverage for home events and practices
• Order supplies, maintain inventory, and prepare bids/quotes for trainer supplies
• Maintain medical records, injury reports, and treatment logs
• Prepare and distribute team medical kits
• Maintain professional certifications and participate in ongoing professional development
• Manage athletic training facilities, supplies, and equipment
• Excellent organizational skills for recordkeeping, inventory, and budget management.
• Commitment to keeping current on new and emerging practices within athletic training and maintaining professional licenses.
Supervision
• Reports to the Athletic Director
Qualifications Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field (Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Health, etc.)
• NATABOC certification in good standing
• Vermont Athletic Trainer licensure (Office of Professional Regulation)
• Membership in the Vermont Athletic Directors Association

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 100–150 lbs. with assistance as needed
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Evening and weekend work required during athletic seasons
