About this role

Arlington High School is looking for a long term subsitute Instructional Support Paraprofessional starting November 2, 2026 and continuing for 12 weeks to cover for an employee on leave. POSITION: Instructional Support Paraprofessional LOCATION: Arlington High School - Harbor/Shortstop Program POSITION GOAL: Arlington High School has two support programs, Harbor and Shortstop, where students with medical and mental health needs who have missed classes receive support in getting to class and catching up on their assignments. The person in this role has a caseload of students they work with and they oversee the milieu of the program alongside the other paraprofessional staff person. QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree Preferred

• Experience working with adolescents with a variety of needs

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Monitor academic progress of assigned students in program

• Assist student in returning to regular classes as quickly as possible, as long as emotionally ready

• Maintain regular contact with classroom teachers concerning students' academic standing in each course and gather coursework for each student as needed

• Tutor student in coursework as needed, or seek help of teachers as needed

• Communicate with hospital tutors and other outside tutors as needed

• Collaborate with school staff including social worker and other staff in program

• Maintain open communication with Intervention Coordinator/Social Worker, the other Program Staff persons, nurse, guidance, deans, and teachers as appropriate

• Attend Student Support Team, re-entry and other meetings as they apply to caseload

• Update the attendance board

• Monitor attendance by keeping a log of students present during each class period

• Update attendance in Powerschool

• Perform check-ins with students as needed

• Refer to Social Worker, nurse, deans, guidance or other staff as needed for crisis evaluation/support

• Manage room and milieu

• Assist students in developing coping skills to return to class

• Communicate with outside providers as deemed necessary

• Attend weekly Program Staff meetings with other Staff person and Social Worker

• Attend high school and district meetings and trainings as appropriate
