ST. CLAIR COUNTY TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER ENGINEERING AND ROBOTICS INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNICIAN POSITION SUMMARY The Instructional Technician serves as a member of the Engineering and Robotics instructional team under the direction of the Instructor. The technician supports students in practicing technical and academic skills, overcoming barriers to learning, and developing workplace readiness. The position also assists with laboratory preparation, equipment readiness, organization, and reinforcement of safe work practices in the Mechatronics program, CIP 14.4201. QUALIFICATIONS
• 4,000 hours of recent relevant work experience in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Robotics in an applied environment, PLC/ Diagnostics, Pneumatics, Mechanical/electrical systems, and product design and development.
• Demonstrated recent, relevant work experience in one or more of the following: mechatronics, industrial automation, robotics, mechanical/electrical systems, industrial maintenance, or product design and development.
• Working knowledge of technical drawings and schematics, hand tools, measuring instruments, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Experience with PLCs, sensors, control systems, pneumatic systems, and CAD software is preferred.
• Related associate degree, technical certificate, or apprenticeship completion preferred.
• Relevant industry credentials in robotics, automation, electrical systems, or CAD are preferred.
• Ability to communicate clearly, work collaboratively, and support high school students with varied learning needs.
• Willingness to complete training on program equipment, safety procedures, and student support practices.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including preparing laboratory workstations, handling tools and materials, and assisting with equipment setup. (50lb minimum)
• Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, pull, push, twist, and be able to stand for long periods of time.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan and coordinate support services with the Instructor.
• Assist in the development of individual student achievement plans.
• Assist students by reviewing, re-teaching, and reinforcing technical and academic content.
• Assist students in the development of personal management skills.
• Assist students in the transition from school to work.
• Provide feedback to the Instructor regarding student progress, behavior, and special needs.
• Assist in providing and documenting student accommodations
RELATED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Substitute teacher when the Instructor is absent.
• Assist with recruiting and promotional activities.
• Assist with student management activities.
• Assist with classroom/lab organization and maintenance activities.
• Participate in professional development activities that enhance support services for students.
• Follow policies and procedures set forth in the Staff Handbook, Student Handbook, and Board of Education Policy Manual.
