About this role

Bachelor's degree required (Master's preferred) in education, instructional technology, Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning, the Instructional Technology Specialist helps educators use digital tools to strengthen teaching and learning across academic and career and technical programs. The specialist coaches staff, designs professional learning, and supports the thoughtful adoption of accessible, secure, and effective tools. Working with teachers, instructional leaders, coaches, and other support staff, the specialist helps ensure that technology choices advance student ownership, equitable access, and the district's instructional priorities. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, and the enthusiasm and credibility to create and sustain instructional momentum in the appropriate use of technology in the district's curriculum and instruction. In collaboration with the Director of Teaching and Learning, the Instructional Technology Specialist coordinates and leads professional learning opportunities to meet the diverse learning needs of staff as it relates to integrating technology into academic and career area programming throughout the Greater Lawrence Technical School. Required Knowledge & Abilities

• Knowledge of effective instructional practices and the purposeful use of technology to support learning, assessment, accessibility, and student ownership across academic and CTE programs.

• Ability to assess staff learning needs and design and deliver engaging professional learning for educators with varied levels of experience and confidence.

• Strong coaching, collaboration, and communication skills, including the ability to listen, respond to feedback, and provide practical support to staff.

• Knowledge of the ISTE Standards and current practices in digital citizenship, accessibility, and responsible technology use.

• Understanding of generative AI capabilities and limitations, AI literacy, and appropriate uses of AI in teaching and learning.

• Ability to guide staff in evaluating AI outputs, designing effective uses of AI, protecting student information, and fostering critical AI literacy among students.

• Working knowledge of student data privacy and security requirements, including applicable federal and state requirements and district policies.

• Ability to evaluate instructional hardware and software for educational value, accessibility, usability, privacy, and cost, and make recommendations for improvement.

• Ability to coordinate with IT staff, vendors, and educators to onboard instructional tools, complete and verify rostering and user access, test core functions, and resolve implementation issues.

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and learn unfamiliar tools independently.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Director of Teaching and Learning, department heads, lead teachers, instructional coaches, and support staff to identify instructional technology needs and advance district priorities across academic and CTE programs.

• Coach educators in selecting and using digital tools to support instruction, student ownership, equitable access, and assessment. Provide support through co-planning, modeling, co-teaching, and feedback.

• Design, coordinate, and deliver professional learning in person and online. Develop practical resources, including guides, videos, and training modules, that staff can use after a session.

• Support staff and students in the ethical, responsible, and effective use of technology, including digital citizenship, AI literacy, academic integrity, and student data privacy.

• Work with district leaders and IT personnel to evaluate instructional software and emerging tools, recommend improvements, and support the implementation of approved platforms.

• Assist with instructional software budgets, contracts, renewals, and vendor communication in collaboration with the Director of Teaching and Learning.

• Coordinate the onboarding of approved instructional technology tools with IT, vendors, and relevant district staff. Support rostering and account setup, test student and staff access and key functions before launch, troubleshoot implementation issues, and confirm that tools are ready for classroom use.

• Provide instructional support for approved software and technology integrated lessons, and coordinate with IT personnel when issues require technical assistance.

• Review staff feedback and evidence of classroom use to improve training, coaching, and instructional technology initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

• educational technology, or a related field.

• Three to five years of experience designing instruction and supporting educators through coaching, professional learning, or instructional technology implementation. Direct classroom teaching and CTE experience preferred.

• Experience supporting instruction for learners with diverse needs and backgrounds.

• Experience using Google Workspace for Education in an instructional setting.

• Experience implementing instructional technology tools, including coordinating with educators, IT staff, or vendors during setup and launch.

• Demonstrated ability to manage projects from planning through implementation.
