About this role

The Gateway Regional School District is seeking a dedicated and qualified Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to cover a full-time maternity leave from February 2027 through June 2027. The candidate will manage a caseload of approximately 40 students, ranging from preschool through 5th grade, with diverse speech and language needs. The candidate must have experience working with students with ASD, moderate/severe language impairment, and articulation/phonological impairments. Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems is highly preferred, and working knowledge of Massachusetts Individualized Education Programs (MA IEPs) and state special education regulations is required. Student evaluation and IEP development are also requirements of the position. • Maintains and manages a caseload of speech-language students at Chester Elementary School.

• Present evaluation results, goal mastery updates, and service delivery recommendations during multidisciplinary IEP team meetings.

• Write comprehensive evaluation reports, IEP progress reports, and draft new IEP goals/objectives utilizing current MA IEP formats and timelines.

• Works collaboratively with the school team to develop and implement educationally based IEPs for speech-language students.

• Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech-language disorders and disabilities using culturally and linguistically appropriate methods.

• Provides screening to identify students with suspected speech-language disabilities.

• Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement age and linguistically appropriate accommodations and intervention strategies in the classroom.

• Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families as appropriate.

• Keeps thorough, ongoing records for individual students receiving speech and language therapy services.

• Compiles case history data on those cases where additional family history, health history, early developmental history, and environmental history are deemed appropriate.

• Salary $286.97 per day
