Education Aide – Elementary (Special Education) Campus: Elementary School Reports to: Principal Position Type: Full-Time FLSA Status: Exempt Primary Purpose Provide instructional and classroom support to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist with classroom activities, student supervision, and instructional preparation to support student learning. Qualifications Education/Certification
• High school diploma or GED required
• Must meet ESSA requirements (associate degree, two years of college coursework, or formal academic assessment)*
• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate required
Knowledge & Skills
• Ability to assist with reading, writing, and mathematics instruction
• Ability to work effectively with children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience
• Prior experience working with children preferred
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Instructional Support
• Work with individual students or small groups under teacher direction
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays
• Help administer and score assignments and objective assessments
• Maintain neat, orderly, and safe classroom environments
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of instructional equipment
• Support teachers with records, reports, and classroom organization
• Provide assistance and orientation to substitute teachers
Student Supervision
• Supervise students during the school day, including classroom, lunchroom, playground, and bus duty
• Communicate student needs or concerns to the teacher
Professional Responsibilities
• Participate in staff development and training
• Attend faculty meetings and school events as assigned
• Follow district safety procedures and emergency protocols
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Moderate standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting (up to 15 lbs.)
• Work indoors and outdoors; exposure to weather and noise
• Ability to manage frequent interruptions and maintain emotional control
*ESSA requirement applies to aides providing instructional support in Title I programs.
