About this role

Primary Purpose: Responsible for the overall management, strategic planning, development, evaluation, and implementation of the District's safety, security, and emergency management programs. Oversee prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery activities. Advise the Superintendent, Board of Trustees, and District administration on safety and security matters; coordinate emergency response and preparedness with campuses, District departments, law enforcement, and emergency service providers; lead or serve on District threat assessment and safety teams; and serve as District Attendance Officer. Qualifications: Education/Certification Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in criminal justice, emergency management, education, public safety, or a related field Current Texas License to Carry (LTC) or ability to obtain an LTC preferred. Clear and valid Texas driver's license Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of school safety, security, and emergency management practices, including NIMS/ICS and emergency operations planning. Knowledge of Texas school safety requirements, applicable laws, regulations, fire codes, and safety standards. Knowledge of emergency response procedures and coordination with law enforcement, fire, and emergency service agencies. Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate districtwide safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs. Ability to interpret and apply laws, policies, regulations, and compliance requirements. Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and remain calm and effective during emergencies and stressful situations. Experience Three years of experience working with emergency management, public safety, or emergency communications Two years of experience in K-12 school administration preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: Safety and Security

• Lead and oversee District safety and security programs.

• Coordinate SROs and serve as liaison with law enforcement and emergency service agencies.

• Coordinate building security, access control, visitor management, surveillance, and communication systems.

• Lead District safety/security teams and address safety concerns.

Emergency Management and Preparedness

• Develop, maintain, and implement District emergency operations and continuity plans.

• Coordinate emergency preparedness, drills, training, and response procedures.

• Coordinate crisis response with law enforcement, fire, emergency management, and other agencies.

• Support activation and operation of the Emergency Operations Center when needed.

Threat Assessment & Compliance

• Lead or participate in District threat assessment and safety teams.

• Coordinate required safety audits and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and safety requirements.

• Oversee fire safety, inspections, hazardous materials, and other environmental health and safety programs.

• Maintain required safety, security, emergency management, and compliance records.

Administration & Communication

• Advise the Superintendent and District administration on safety, security, and emergency management matters.

• Prepare reports, recommendations, and presentations for District leadership and the Board.

• Develop and maintain safety procedures, manuals, and guidance.

• Monitor and communicate emerging safety and security concerns.

Budget & Training

• Develop and monitor the District safety and security budget.

• Coordinate safety/security equipment, technology, and training.

• Provide safety and emergency management training to staff.

Attendance & Truancy

• Serve as District Attendance Officer.

• Coordinate truancy prevention efforts and address attendance concerns with campus and District staff.

Other

• Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible

• Comply with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations

• Adhere to the District's safety policies and procedures

• Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of District business

• Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance
