Days per Year: 226 Min: $75,837 Mid: $91,370 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Specialist-CTE Technology REPORTS TO: Director of Career and Technical Education WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt PAY GRADE: AI 2 PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Career and Technical Education Technology Specialist is responsible for managing all CTE purchased equipment throughout the district. The primary goal is to maintain a database of all CTE inventory and the guidelines for processing repairs and or disposition of non -repairable assets when necessary. Implement and coordinate a system to identify all CTE equipment and procedures for transitioning any equipment across campuses or programs. Monitor software and hardware installations, textbook and online resources with tech support for teachers. Maintain website information for the CTE department. QUALIFICATIONS: Required:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

• Three years full time experience in business or industry or technical applications, hardware and software and possess a technical training background

Preferred:

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university

• Valid teaching certificate in one or more Career and Technical Education (CTE) program areas

• Three years successful teaching experience in one or more CTE programs

• Mid-Management or Principal Certification

• Industry experience in a CTE related field

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

• Knowledge of computer technologies and networking systems

• Demonstrated ability to lead in a positive manner

• Knowledge of CTE curriculum and instruction

• Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic and growing work environment

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Efficient organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines

• Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Maintains a database of all CTE inventory purchased by date, funding account, price, and location:

• Works with CTE Director and Coordinator to establish and prioritize CTE program area campus needs and deadlines for completion.

• Work with Program Specialists to determine training needed for CTE teachers and their programs.

• Work with teachers on assessment of current equipment and determine policy and procedures for repairs, disposal or relocation.

• Works with the CTE Accounting Coordinator to assist teachers with purchase requisitions for equipment and or software and provide confirmation when received.

• Update the CTE Accounting Coordinator of any equipment returned, repaired, disposed or relocated in the district.

• Works with district Technical Service to resolve issues affecting CTE teachers.

• Act in a consultative and advisory capacity for technology training for CTE staff

• Analyzes facility and equipment needs for optimum teaching and learning; utilizes information to make recommendation for changes or adjustments.

• Facilitates the preparation of specifications for equipment and the selection, distribution, and utilization of instructional materials and equipment to support the instructional program.

• Researches programs and provides analysis of such programs to determine possible implementation in the district.

• Assists in orientation of new teachers and staff during in-service and throughout the year with technology training.

• Maintains the website information and updates for the CTE department

• Exemplifies professionalism in behavior and performance:

• Work with CTE Director to ensure success of all CTE programs.

• Work with CTE staff to ensure programs are using the most up-to-date technologies

• Promotes understanding of District programs and policies and demonstrates a positive attitude and genuine support of the teaching profession.

• Adhere to the Texas Education Code of Ethics and supports the District philosophy.

• Works with all staff, including campus counselors, CTE counselors, College Connections Counselors, Academy Leaders, principals/administrators, CTE Program Specialist, CTE Coordinator and CTE Director to benefit the programs and the students.

• Remains current in education and technology through literature, workshops, conferences, professional organizations and college courses.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling. This position may require occasional traveling within the district. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to interpret TEC and policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory, ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
