PK-12 School Nurse (2024-2025 School Year) Position Purpose The School Nurse manages all responsibilities associated with the health and well-being of our student and staff population. Duties include record keeping, assessment of illness or injuries, assurance of immunization or exemptions, small group instruction, staff professional development, parental contact, effective collaboartion with stakeholders and outside agencies, positive promotion of the school district, collection and distribution of valuable resources for staff, students and community. Confidentiality, strong communication and customer service skills are essential to this position as well as the ability to multi-task and prioritize on a daily basis. Depending upon experience, classroom instruction related to the medical field is preferred. (i.e: CPR, 1st Aid, etc.) General Duties:
• Examine and treat a variety of illnesses and injuries throughout the academic year
• Contact parents to and/or obtain permissions for treatments, medications or concerns.
• Dispense medications and do follow up.
• Communicate effectively with administration and with Faculty as appropriate.
• Give medical treatment to faculty and staff as needed during the academic year.
• Contact with physicians' offices as needed.
• Submit purchase orders for medications, medical supplies, and equipment; restock.
• Ensure compliance with all required medical records and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with Preschool specific requirements.
• Member of school health advisors or committee, as appropriate.
• Communicate and assist with making medical, dental, orthodontic, etc. off campus appointments and arrange transportation.
• Maintain appropriate treatments as indicated on Student Health Plans. Development of 504 plans as needed.
• Work with Athletic Director and Office Manager on student injuries and illnesses.
• Document all visits to the health center and concerns addressed throughout the school year.
• Document all medication changes in chart and notify appropriate resources.
• Assist in the organization of annual flu clinics or other health related services to the school and community.
• If appropriate, teach health related courses ie: CPR/1st Aid, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Profile Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
• Licensed Registered Nurse; Bachelor of Science in nursing degree preferred.
• Must have current CPR and AED Certification.
• Received or ability to obtain licensure through the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) as well as CTE Certification.
• Evidence or experience working with children or within a school environment.
• Successful completion of all mandated criminal background screenings and fingerprinting as required.
• Prior experience working within a school or educational environment is preferred.
