SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 3 POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT JOB STATUS: All Applicants JOB TITLE: BI Paraprofessional LOCATION: Crimson Point Elementary REPORTS TO: Principal or Building Administrator CALENDAR: 184 days a year PAY SCALE: $15.95 - 18.79/hr (DOE) BENEFITS: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Public Employees Retirement System (PERSI) JOB SUMMARY: The Extended Resource/BI Paraprofessional supports the Special Education Teacher in implementing individualized learning strategies to help students reach the academic, behavioral, and personal goals outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Instruction is delivered through individual, small-group, or whole-group settings within both Resource Room and general education environments. Qualifications

• Education:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

• Educational Requirement (Must meet at least one):

• Associate's degree, OR

• Two years of college (or 32 credit hours, per district standards), OR

• Passing score on the Praxis ParaPro Assessment.

• Experience & Skills:

• Demonstrated experience working effectively with school-age children.

• Strong interpersonal and positive public relations skills.

• Ability to handle confidential student records with discretion and maintain due process awareness.

• Physical & Environmental Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed to assist students.

• Capability to meet the physical and emotional demands associated with supporting diverse learning and physical needs.

Major Responsibilities & Essential Duties 1. Instructional Support & Student Development

• Become familiar with basic special education knowledge with an emphasis on due process procedures and confidentiality of information and records.

• Provide individualized instructional activities and accommodations under the direction of the Special Education Teacher and related service personnel.

• Administer, score, and document diagnostic and achievement assessments as requested by the lead teacher.

• Utilize positive reinforcement techniques tailored to each student's unique abilities, interests, and developmental needs.

2. Classroom Management & Student Care

• Supervise and manage student behavior across various school environments, enforcing policies with consistency and empathy.

• Assist students with personal care needs, including feeding, dressing, toileting, and mobility/locomotion assistance as necessary.

• Help maintain a positive, clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment, including the preparation of instructional displays and learning materials.

3. Administration & Professional Ethics

• Display a positive attitude toward school/special education programs and show respect for leadership and programming decisions made by supervisors.

• Maintain accurate, timely, and organized student records and administrative reporting.

• Adhere strictly to district policies, federal/state due process standards, and student privacy laws (FERPA).

• Act as a reliable point of contact and offer guidance for substitute teachers assigned to the classroom.

4. Collaboration & Professional Growth

• Collaborate constructively with teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff.

• Participate actively in department staff meetings, required trainings, and ongoing professional development.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by school administration.
