Position Overview Monroe County School District Head Start / VPK Department is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional / Classroom Aide to support the Head Start program at Stanley Switlik School. The ideal candidate will assist the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool-aged children. This position plays a vital role in supporting school readiness and promoting the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of young learners. Key Responsibilities
• Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities aligned with Head Start performance standards. • Support children individually and in small groups to reinforce learning concepts. • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment. • Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions. • Assist with classroom preparation, including setting up materials and organizing learning centers. • Support children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities or individualized plans. • Maintain positive communication with families and staff members. • Follow district policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines. Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required. • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or willingness to obtain within required timeframe preferred. • Experience working with preschool-aged children strongly preferred. • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to pass required background screening. Physical Requirements
