About this role

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our specialist service for people experiencing a first episode of psychosis as a Care Co-ordinator.

You will be joining a client centred, dynamic and friendly multi-disciplinary team, who prides themselves on delivering high quality, evidence-based interventions for those experiencing first episode psychosis.The purpose of the role is to reduce the stigma associated with psychosis, provide an early intervention to reduce the length of time that people remain undiagnosed and untreated and to offer support and guidance throughout the persons recovery journey.

Main duties of the job

Under line management and clinical supervision from within EIT, the post holder will maintain and co-ordinate timely and appropriate interventions, for a caseload of service users living in the Bolton area. The post holder will work within the framework of CPA, and in line with relevant clinical pathways as outlined within the EIT Operational Procedure.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

A qualification in: Mental Health Nursing (RMN) Registration with the regulatory body as applicable

Desirable

Evidence of robust continued professional development including training in relevant subjects.

Experience Essential

The post holder should have: Demonstrable experience of working with people with psychosis.

Desirable

Experience of working with people with complex presentations and high rates of co-morbidity. Experience of work within a multidisciplinary team. Experience of working within a EIT/CMHT setting; managing a caseload of service users and completing assessments with people who have been referred into the service.

Knowledge Essential

The post holder should have: An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with severe and enduring mental health difficulties Knowledge and understanding of the Care Program Approach 2008. Knowledge and understanding of The Care Act. Knowledge and understanding of NICE Guidelines in relation to First Episode Psychosis.

Desirable

An understanding of models and ideas of recovery from mental health problems.

The post holder should have: Excellent communication skills Excellent engagement skills An ability to contain and work with organisational stress Ability to balance and respond to urgent or competing service demands Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint. A willingness to be flexible in managing own time in order to respond to service needs Be able to contribute to the assessment of service users' health and well-being needs, and to contribute to planning how to meet these needs. Be able to contribute to the planning delivering and monitoring of interventions and treatments including outcome measure assessment tools and audits.

other requirements Essential

There is a requirement to travel mainly within the Bolton area and an occasional requirement to travel across the wide footprint of the Trust to attend meetings and events relevant to the role. An ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines. An ability to interact effectively with people with mental health difficulties Ability to accept and use supervision appropriately and effectively
