Manor & Park Group Practice is looking for a reliable and approachable GP Receptionist to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of our practice. You will be one of the first points of contact for our patients, helping them access the right service, supporting our clinical team and helping the practice run smoothly day to day.
The role is worked over four days each week Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday with Wednesdays off.
Previous reception, customer service or healthcare experience would be an advantage, but GP or NHS experience is not essential as full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job
The GP Receptionist will provide a friendly, professional and efficient front-line service to patients while supporting the wider clinical and administrative team.
Main duties will include answering patient telephone calls, welcoming patients at reception, managing appointment requests, supporting online triage through Accurx, taking and passing on messages, processing repeat prescription requests and managing practice emails and correspondence.
The postholder will also help maintain accurate appointment and administrative systems, provide support to clinicians and colleagues, and assist with cover during periods of annual leave and sickness.
The role requires excellent communication, confidentiality, good organisation and the ability to remain calm and helpful in a busy environment. The successful applicant will work across both practice sites and play an important part in ensuring patients receive a responsive and professional service.
About us
Manor & Park Group Practice is an established GP Training Practice operating across two sites in central Sheffield and caring for approximately 8,000 patients.
We have a friendly and experienced multidisciplinary team including GPs, GP Registrars, advanced practitioners, nurses, healthcare professionals, pharmacists and administrative colleagues.
Our reception team is a vital part of the practice and works closely with clinicians and managers to help patients access the right care and keep our services running smoothly.
We are a busy practice, but we place a strong emphasis on teamwork, communication, professionalism and supporting one another. We are always looking for ways to improve how we work and the experience we provide for our patients.

Job PurposeTo provide a friendly, professional and efficient reception and administrative service to patients, clinicians and colleagues.
The postholder will support the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, help patients access the appropriate services and provide administrative support to the wider multidisciplinary team.
The role requires excellent communication, confidentiality, good organisation, flexibility and the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy primary care environment.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe duties and responsibilities of the post may include:
Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice in a friendly and professional manner.
Answering incoming telephone calls and dealing with enquiries appropriately.
Taking accurate messages and passing information to the appropriate member of the team.
Supporting GPs and clinicians with online triage requests using Accurx.
Managing and monitoring the practice appointment system.
Processing patient requests and directing them to the appropriate service or member of staff.
Processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice procedures.
Managing practice emails and electronic communications.
Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient information.
Providing general administrative support to the clinical and management teams.
Supporting other reception and administrative colleagues during busy periods.
Providing cover for colleagues during periods of annual leave and sickness.
Working flexibly across both practice sites as required.
Using SystmOne and other practice IT systems following appropriate training.
Following practice procedures for confidentiality, information governance and data protection.
Maintaining a professional and helpful approach when dealing with patients, including during difficult or challenging conversations.
The duties may be varied from time to time depending on the changing needs of the practice.

Qualifications Essential
- Good standard of general education, including English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent - Good written and verbal communication skills - Basic IT skills and confidence using computer systems - Full UK driving licence and access to a car, as the role requires regular working across both practice sites - Willingness to undertake role-specific training and mandatory NHS training
