Join the Bristol NHS Foundation Trust Temporary Staffing Bureau as a Bank Administrator and gain valuable experience working across a range of departments and services throughout the Trust.

As a Bank Administrator, you'll provide vital administrative support where it's needed most. Assignments may involve covering staff absences, supporting busy clinical and non-clinical teams, assisting with appointment bookings, managing records, or helping deliver short-term projects.

With a variety of assignments available, you'll have the opportunity to develop a broad range of administrative skills and experience within one of the UK's largest NHS organisations.

Assignments are currently mainly offered as temporary placements over a set period of time, such as several weeks supporting the same team or department. There may also be opportunities for more flexible working depending on service needs. Bank work can provide the opportunity to work additional hours around other commitments, while contributing to high-quality patient care and support services.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable individuals with administrative, clerical, or customer service experience who can provide professional support across a variety of Trust settings.

You will:

Provide general administrative and clerical support to departments across the Trust. Use Trust systems to manage appointments, records, correspondence, and departmental communications. Respond to queries from patients, staff, and external partners in a professional and courteous manner. Maintain accurate records and handle confidential information appropriately. Support teams with organising workloads, managing diaries, scanning documentation, and monitoring shared inboxes. Work flexibly across different services and locations as required.

We're looking for people who have:

Availability to work between 8:00am and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday. Previous administration, clerical, or customer service experience. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Strong communication and organisational skills. Attention to detail and the ability to prioritise work effectively. A professional, reliable, and flexible approach. An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data protection.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training Essential

Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths Willingness to undertake job-related training

Desirable

NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent experience Previous training in administrative systems or NHS system

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Experience of working in an administrative or office-based role ( Experience of working with the public or in a customer service environment Experience of handling sensitive or confidential information

Desirable

Previous experience within the NHS or healthcare setting Experience of booking appointments or diary management Experience using patient administration systems or similar databases

Skills and Abilities Essential

Good communication skills (written and verbal) Ability to organise and prioritise workload in a busy environment Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook) Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles

Desirable

Knowledge of NHS services and systems Understanding of Patient Access Policy or appointment booking processes
