A GP Training Programme Director (TPD) post is available to support PRIME educational activity across the East Midlands.

One substantive post (2 sessions) The PRIME programme provides targeted educational support for GP resident doctors requiring additional support with performance, communication, consultation skills, examination preparation or progression through training.
The successful applicants will work alongside the PRIME team and wider GP education faculty to deliver educational interventions that promote learner development, progression and patient safety.
The role will also contribute to support for international GPs, returners and retainers where appropriate.
Remuneration will be in line with the national GP educator pay scale.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicants will:
Provide educational support to GP resident doctors experiencing educational, communication or progression challenges. Deliver one-to-one support, small-group teaching, workshops and larger educational sessions. Support consultation and communication skills development, including preparation for GP assessments and examinations. Contribute to PRIME educational programmes, resources and interventions. Support international GPs, returners and retainers through advice, signposting and educational discussions where appropriate. Work collaboratively with Training Programme Directors, Educational Supervisors and NHS England colleagues. Contribute to evaluation, quality improvement and the ongoing development of PRIME activity. Promote inclusion, learner wellbeing and patient safety through a supportive and developmental approach.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training Essential
Registered Medical or Dental Practitioner with a current licence to practise or hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (or equivalent) in Public Health (for roles in School of Public Health). Membership/Fellowship of a College, Faculty or professional association relevant to the advertised role's Specialty Applicants must be in current NHS clinical practice (or similar setting), or within 2 years of ceasing clinical practice, whilst in this post Applicants, regardless of professional background, must have a track record of professionalism in line with the principles set out in Good Medical Practice and compatible with appointment in a senior clinical educator role. Attendance at courses aimed to support educational development. Active involvement in, and up to date with, NHS appraisal processes. Applicants who are GPs are normally required to be on the National Performer's List (unless they are solely undertaking an educational management role).
Desirable
Higher educational qualification such as a postgraduate certificate, diploma or Master's in education.
Experience and Knowledge Essential
Good working knowledge of the NHS, its structures and processes. Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education Experience of working with learners and doctors in training in an educational context. Experience of clinical and educational leadership including across multi-professional teams Understanding of developments involving the relevant Colleges/Faculties, professional bodies, National Institute for Health Research and academic training, NHS organisations and regulatory bodies
Desirable
Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education Previous experience in the recruitment and selection of doctors / learners to educational programmes. Awareness of funding streams for healthcare education Understanding of current health, social care and education policy An understanding of healthcare/multi-professional workforce matters
