Job summary
Don Valley Healthcare are looking for a Practice Nurse to join our team. We are looking for a Practice Nurse who can actively contribute to both high quality patient care and ongoing development of the role.
Main duties of the job
This role will be suitable for a qualified Nurse or an experienced Practice Nurse to work as part of the present clinical team providing medical care to the patients over our 2 sites.
Our current team consists of 1ACP Trainee 1 Practice Nurse 1 NA 2 HCA's and a phlebotomist.
Working hours are negotiable upon succession.
About us
The Practice has a patient list size of approximately 13,000 patients over 2 sites in Bentley and Sprotbrough. We have 8 GP partners and 5 salaried GPs'
We are a training Practice for Doctors, Nurses and Medical Students as well as research ready.
The nursing and GP team have an extremely good work ethic and work/help each other out were needed to provide support to help run a healthy practice.

Job description Job responsibilities
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by GPs, training and development were required to achieve below:
Cytology Contraception Wound care / ulcer care/Doppler Travel Vaccinations ECGs Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry Venepuncture Hypertension Management Ear syringing Routine immunizations/Childhood immunisations Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabsDiabetes or Coronary Heart Disease. Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurses or GPs as appropriate Other tasks will include Maintaining and cleaning equipment used by the nurses and GPs Chaperoning and assisting patients who are being examined by another clinician. Maintain general tidiness and cleanliness of nurses and treatment rooms Ordering of Health Promotion Literature Ordering of vaccinations to maintain stock levels Participation in administrative systems in the Practice At all times there will be a need to maintain accurate records A duty to advise the partners of potential problems or errors within a range of assigned tasks Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required. On occasion there may be a requirement to undertake home visits Any other delegated duties appropriate to the post

Experience Essential
Experience of working as part of a multi-professional team Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients
Desirable
Experience of working as a practice nurse within General Practice Practical experience of computerised clinical systems
Skills Essential
Good organisational skills Excellent communication skills (written & Oral) Ability to pay attention to detail Ability to deal with crises, interruptions and assess the urgency of some conditions Time management and the ability to work to clinic times/other deadlines Excellent patient care skills

Qualifications Essential
Good standard of Education 1st level registered Nurse with current NMC registration Can provided evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable
Educated to degree level or equivalent Certificate/Diploma in chronic disease areas CPR/Anaphylaxis training undertaken in the last 12 months
