Band 5 Staff Nurse - 12-Month FTCLocation: Eden Ward, Wexham Park Hospital
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Eden Ward team, supporting patients in cancer and chemotherapy services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain specialist experience with full support to develop your skills and confidence in delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide safe, effective, and compassionate care to patients receiving chemotherapy
Support daily patient list coordination and workload allocation
Administer chemotherapy safely (training provided)
Triage and assess patients using the UKONS system

Keen to develop skills in oncology and chemotherapy care
Committed to excellent patient-centred care

Main duties of the job
o Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual patient care with minimal supervision.o To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure that treatments are correctly carried out in accordance with given policy.o Responsible for the assessment of complex care needs of chemotherapy patients and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.o Lead and monitor the performance and standards of care within the Nursing Team.o Work collaboratively with the other members of cancer services team to facilitate the development of the service

Qualifications Essential
Current or pending NMC Registration
Desirable
Trained in the administration of chemotherapy
Special Requirements Essential
Able to work flexible shifts, weekends and bank holidays as required
Experience Essential
Competent in basic life support and IV administration Acute Medical Nursing Environment Effective working with multidisciplinary teams
Desirable
Experienced in working in oncology
Skills & Knowledge Essential
Effective communication skills (written and verbal) Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult / stressful situations Time management and delegation skills Able to train and supervise junior staff Able to manage a team in the absence of the team leader Able to prioritise workload (self and others) and meet deadlines
Desirable
Has experience or competent in administration of chemotherapy and care for patients undergoing cancer treatments
