About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust for 3 Senior Clinical Fellows in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. These are permanent whole-time appointments, working primarily within our busy maternity and gynaecology department at the Royal Derby Hospital. We currently have 2 registrars on call from 8pm to 8am but will soon be increasing this to have a 3rd registrar on site at night, along with 2 Junior Clinical Fellow's. The increased medical workforce will ensure safer care for women and birthing people as well as providing a positive working environment/increased learning opportunities for our resident doctors.

This post offers a two tiered basically salary approach (MT04 or MT05 basic salary) that will be assessed at interview based on past experience, including NHS experience worked.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake clinical sessions with duties covering all areas of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. When on call during the daytime, the post holder will be included in the registrar on call rota covering Obstetrics & Gynaecology. The post holder will also participate in an emergency out of hours shift rota. It is anticipated that the post holder will work flexibly within the department with exposure to different sub-specialties.

We see on average 4810 OP appointments a day. We are the 4th busiest Trauma & Orthopaedic outpatients department in England - an average of 2077 per week. An average of 1115 patients are seen in A&Es across our network every day - 3rd largest in the country. Our hospitals admit an average of 195 emergency patients daily. Last year we undertook almost 33,700 planned surgical operations in our 57 operating theatres. We are one of only 7 Trusts nationally with more than 50 operating theatres. We carry out more than 140 elective procedures each working day. Person Specification

Qualifications and Eligibility Essential

MBBS / MBChB or equivalent MRCOG part 1 Life Support Qualifications - ALS CTG training Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice at time of application Eligible to reside and work in the UK

Desirable

Additional higher medical/scientific degree relevant to the specialty Attendance at recent MDT training course such as PrOMPT MRCOG

Clinical Knowledge and Skills Essential

Completed at least four years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) to join the ST3-5 rota (MT04 national salary), or seven years' to be applicable for the Senior ST6+ (MT05 national salary) rota. Basic salary will be assessed and offered following interview and will take into account past experience, including NHS experience worked. Minimum 24 months NHS experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (or 12 months if this was at ST3+ MT04 level) Up to date clinical knowledge in the relevant specialty and evidence of an understanding of its application. Satisfies the RCOG curriculum matrix for ST3 or above in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Desirable

12 months NHS experience at ST3+ level in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Experience of working on a middle grade rota in the NHS.

Management and Administrative Experience Essential

Commitment to Continuing Professional Development and the requirements of clinical governance, reporting errors and learning from these

Language and Communication Skills Essential
