ID Medical is looking for a friendly, organised and professional Receptionist to support our Children & Young Peoples Autism Assessment Service.
The service provides autism diagnostic assessments for children and young people from across Barnsley. Clinics are delivered at weekends.
As the first point of contact for children, young people and their families attending the service, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming, calm and supportive environment.
Main duties of the job
Welcome children, young people and their families to the clinic and complete arrival/check-in processes.Provide clear information and directions to families attending appointments.Liaise with clinicians and the wider clinic team to support the smooth running of the clinic.Monitor the reception and waiting areas throughout the day.Respond appropriately and sensitively to queries from parents and carers.Support clinicians with general administrative tasks where required.Maintain patient confidentiality and handle information in accordance with NHS information governance requirements.Escalate any concerns, incidents or safeguarding matters in accordance with agreed procedures.Support the team with appointment queries, delays, cancellations and non-attendance where required.Help ensure the clinic environment remains welcoming, organised and suitable for children and young people with a range of communication, sensory and additional needs.We are looking for someone who is:
Friendly, approachable and confident communicating with children, young people and families.Calm and professional, particularly when supporting families who may be anxious or require additional assistance.Highly organised with good attention to detail.Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team.Confident using IT systems and completing administrative tasks.Reliable and able to work independently within a weekend clinic environment.
About us Working with us
You will be joining a multidisciplinary team delivering autism assessments for children and young people in Barnsley, including clinicians experienced in neurodevelopmental assessment.
You will receive an induction to the service, including the clinic processes, safeguarding and escalation arrangements, confidentiality and information governance requirements, and the specific needs of children and families attending the service.
Weekend availability is essential for this role.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Good standard of general education, including English and Maths at GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent. Enhanced DBS with Childrens Barred List check, or willingness/ability to complete this before commencing. Safeguarding Children Level 2 training, or completion prior to starting. Completion of required Information Governance/Data Security and mandatory training. Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism, completed or willingness to complete as part of induction.
Desirable
NVQ Level 2/3 in Business Administration, Customer Service or equivalent. Previous NHS or healthcare administration/reception experience. Experience working within paediatric, autism, neurodevelopmental, SEN or children's services. Experience using NHS/clinical systems.
Experience Desirable
Experience supporting children or young people with autism, additional needs or communication differences would also be beneficial. Previous experience working within the NHS, healthcare, paediatric, neurodevelopmental or reception environment would be advantageous.
