About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife to lead on Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle version 3 (SBLCBv3). We are looking for a midwife who has experience of implementing and managing a programme with key deliverables. The midwife must have excellent communication skills, work well under pressure and be able to prioritise work to timescales. We are working towards continuous development of our services to meet the maternity transformation agenda and this role is key. The midwife must have a philosophy of woman-centred care and good knowledge of the SBLCBv3 in line with Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS)

Main duties of the job

To lead, facilitate and build on the current practice to enable the delivery of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle version 3

The post holder will work with midwifery, obstetric, and neonatal colleagues to lead on the continued implementation and monitoring of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle v3 at Newham University Hospital. The postholder is expected to have excellent communication skills and be able to manage their own workload.

The successful candidate will support and work alongside the leads for the individual elements to achieve compliance with MIS (Maternity Incentive Scheme) standard 6. They will have overall responsibility for leading, facilitating and building on all the 6 elements of SBLCB v3.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications Essential

Registered Midwife with current NMC registration BSc/BA Degree Evidence of ongoing, relevant post-graduate qualification Mentorship/Assessor qualification

Desirable

Professional Midwifery Advocate (or working towards) Clinical Governance and Quality improvement training.

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Practising registered midwife with a minimum of 2 years' experience at Band 6 Sound knowledge of Maternity Incentive Scheme (MIS) & Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle (SBLCB) v3.2. Understanding of Audit and how to present findings. Ability to demonstrate significant experience in all midwifery practice Ability to offer constructive suggestions for service improvement. Knowledge and understanding of Information governance. Ability to work within set timeframes working to priorities and deadlines, whilst monitoring the quality of own and others work. Ability to use and maintain resources efficiently and effectively and encourage others to do so. Sound knowledge of the governance agenda Understanding and application of human factors Sound knowledge of the governance agenda. Sound knowledge of current issues in maternity.

Desirable

Demonstrated ability of leading case reviews, and being part of a Quality Improvement initiative

Skills Essential

Ability to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, managerial, and organisational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and confidently in diverse professional settings. Motivated and able to take initiative, consistently driving tasks forward without needing close supervision. Ability to prioritise clinical work effectively Clear understanding and application of professional accountability, responsibility, and confidentiality Working knowledge of a range of software packages, including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Presentation skills with an ability to present information to a variety of audiences. Ability to make decisions autonomously, when required, working to tight and often changing timescales. Able to analyse datasets
