About the Position

Horelyu Dene Ts’edi Kue is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator to join our growing team.

This position provides day-to-day support across recruitment, employee onboarding, payroll, benefits and pension administration, and employee records. Working closely with management, Finance and program leadership, the Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator will play an important role in ensuring our HR and payroll processes are accurate, timely, confidential and well organized.

This is a great opportunity for someone with HR, payroll or administrative experience who enjoys working with people, managing details and contributing to strong internal systems.

Key Responsibilities

The Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator will:

• Coordinate job postings, applications, interviews, reference checks and candidate communications.

• Prepare employment offers, contracts and other approved HR documentation.

• Coordinate employee onboarding, including required documentation, equipment, email and system access.

• Process payroll using approved payroll information, including timesheets, overtime, vacation, leaves, wage changes, deductions and terminations.

• Prepare payroll deductions and CRA remittance information for Finance review and approval.

• Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs), T4s, tax forms and other payroll and year-end documentation.

• Maintain accurate payroll, compensation and employee tax records, including applicable Treaty tax documentation.

• Coordinate employee enrolment and changes to benefit and pension programs.

• Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel files.

• Track employment contracts, probationary periods, compensation changes, certifications and other key employment information.

• Coordinate employee offboarding, including payroll, benefits, pension, IT access and return of organizational property.

• Support payroll reconciliation and follow up on discrepancies in coordination with Finance.

• Respond to routine employee questions related to payroll, benefits and pension.

• Provide general HR and payroll administrative support as required.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• A diploma or certificate in Human Resources, Business Administration, Payroll Administration, Office Administration or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Experience in HR administration, payroll, benefits, recruitment or a related administrative role.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with payroll and employee information.

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

• The ability to work independently while recognizing when management direction or approval is required.

Assets

• Experience processing payroll and administering employee benefits or pension plans.

• Experience supporting recruitment and employee onboarding.

• Experience working within a First Nations, Indigenous, social services or community-based organization.

• Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP), HR education or related training.

Conditions of Employment

The successful candidate may be required to provide:

• A satisfactory Criminal Record Check and/or Vulnerable Sector Check, as required.

• A valid driver's licence and driver's abstract where required.

• Proof of applicable qualifications or certifications.
