Position Overview: As part of the talented Quality team, you will deliver support to machining production, facilitate quality activities in manufacturing, and utilize standard evaluation methods to ensure product quality and integrity. You will troubleshoot complex production problems related to process variation and organize and direct quality spill and containment activities. Additional responsibilities include performing internal ISO process audits, participating in formal problem-solving teams, and completing corrective action requests.

Essential Functions:

• Deliver quality support to production with an emphasis on engine machining • Troubleshoot complex production problems related to process variation • Access print specifications on computer; interpret GD&T, understand tolerances, key product features, and associated measurement techniques • Perform basic dimensional part inspections utilizing calipers, micrometers, and various other handheld gauges • Organize and direct quality spill and containment activities • Support nonconforming material process as required • Lead the tagging, sorting, and inspecting of suspect product • Communicate quality spill containment findings • Create standardized work, quality alerts, and applicable training • Perform internal ISO process audits as directed • Actively engage in the SIR (Sample Inspection Report) process • Understand and interpret statistical reports, including histograms and control charts • Conduct mathematical calculations of moderate complexity • Participate in company-led LSS training and complete LSS projects • Participate in formal problem-solving teams and complete corrective action requests • Perform special assignments as required • Interface with assembly or sister plants • Support plant safety initiatives

Required Qualifications:

• Two or more years of experience in complex machining operations, quality assurance, and/or dimensional inspection techniques • In lieu of a degree, five or more years of experience in complex machining operations, quality assurance, and/or dimensional inspection techniques • Commitment to health and safety in both the office and plant environments • Proficient knowledge of PC software including the latest Windows software • Experience with data mining and ability to collect and transfer information into presentable formats (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel) • Knowledge of pertinent manufacturing processes, including machining and metrology • Familiarity with GD&T and the ability to read and understand blueprints, tolerances, and symbols • Effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills • Ability to prioritize diverse assignments and complete them in a timely manner • Ability to perform with a sense of urgency and apply sound problem-solving skills • Ability to diplomatically lead and instruct others in job-related functions • Ability to reason through problems and suggest workable solutions • Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work well in a team setting • Detail oriented, flexible/adaptable, with a strong work ethic and open-minded approach • Willingness to seek and maintain ASQ Quality Technician certification

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in a related field • Broad knowledge of quality systems and procedures • Working knowledge of LSS, ISO, and safety methodologies • ASQ Certified Quality Technician • Completed GD&T coursework or training

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to lift 35 lbs. repetitively with a single lift of 50 lbs. • Willingness to work extended hours and occasional weekends/holidays as needed

The hiring range for this position is $54,300 - $75,400 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
