About this role

Job Description:

The Genitourinary (GU) Examination role of the Standardized Patient (SP) position consists of the SP participating in a physical examination of their genitals (testicles and penis) inspected, palpated, and evaluated for hernias The GU physical exam is comprised of the following:

An Inspection of:

• Pubic hair characteristics and distribution

• Penis

• Scrotum

• Glans / meatus

Palpation of:

• Penis

• Shaft

• Scrotum

• Testes, epididymis, vas deferens

• Retraction of foreskin if present (and replace when finished)

• Opening of meatus (gently) by pressing dorsal and ventral glans

Hernia Exam that includes:

• Invaginate scrotal tissue

• Palpating to inguinal ring

• Feeling for hernia while patient coughs

• Palpating for femoral hernia

Job Qualifications Education and Experience

• High school diploma/GED required and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Experience in, education, or in health care preferred but not required

Job Competencies

• Must possess basic computer typing and data entry skills.

• Excellent ability to recall learner experiences.

• Exceptional communication skills

• Ability to follow directions and accept constructive criticism.

• Must be very reliable and able to accommodate a flexible schedule

• Have reliable access to email for communication and scheduling.
