Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our Clinical Coding Services Team.
The work involves extracting relevant information from patient records, discussing queries with clinicians, other clinical coding team members, or the National Classifications Service, and then translating the diagnosis and procedures into codes using standard national classifications (ICD10 and OPCS 4), adhering to all national standards and conventions.
The information Coders produce is used to report on patient outcomes, improve patient care and ensure that the Trust is appropriately paid for the treatments provided to patients admitted to hospital.
Main duties of the job
To fulfil this important role you will need to be experienced in Clinical Coding and hold the UK ACC qualification. You will need to exhibit excellent logical and analytical skills, demonstrate sound judgement in translating often complex patient records. Flexible in your approach you must be able to work as part of a team to tight deadlines. You must have knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, good IT skills and the ability to work to a high degree of accuracy with attention to detail.
Dependant upon experience, there maybe an opportunity to adopt a hybrid (home/office) working pattern. This can be discussed further at interview.
