Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician -2 yearfixed term.
This post attracts a trainee salary under Annex U/21 of Agenda for Change:
o Year 1 - 70% of the top of a Band 4
o Year 2 - 75% of the top of a Band 4
You mustpossessa minimum of4 GCSE's (grade C and above)or equivalent qualifications in English,MathematicsandScience
Main duties of the job
Together with full hospital training, you will study part time day release at Kendal College for aPearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians
Upon successful completion ofthequalification,you will be able to register as qualified Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
This is a training post; the duties will reflect progress of the training programme and be undertaken under close instruction andsupervision.To work as a member of the Pharmacy team to provide safe,timely,appropriateandhigh qualitypharmaceutical services forpatients and staff.Toparticipatein providing medication forstock,in-patientsanddischarge.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Education and qualifications Essential
English, Maths and Science to GCSE level (or equivalent) Grade C or above
Desirable
NVQ2 in Pharmacy services or working toward
Experience Essential
Recent experience of working within a pharmacy department in hospital or community

Experience in Hospital Pharmacy
Skills, ability and knowledge Essential
