Job summary

Do you want to be part of an innovative dynamic NHS Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT) service? Are you passionate about step 2 evidence based psychological therapies for people with common mental health problems (depression and anxiety disorders), delivered in a variety of modalities including over the telephone, face to face, or online, both individually and in groups.

We currently have a vacancy for suitably qualified PWP based at our office in Whitby for 24 months. Please note that if you do not hold the Certificate for Low Intensity Interventions from an accredited provider your application will not be considered. It is expected that suitable candidates will be eligible or registered with BABCP.

The NHS North Yorkshire Talking Therapies service is well known for its innovative approaches to working with perinatal women, Vulnerable Veterans, older adults and our commitment to staff wellbeing. The service also has a strong commitment to in house and external CPD and places high importance on clinical and caseload management supervision to support you in developing your career. We are keen to hear from suitably experienced, enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are focused on providing patient centred care of the highest quality. The successful candidate will also have the benefit of living and working in a beautiful part of the country as our service covers Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale.

Main duties of the job

The NHS Talking Therapies Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner will play a critical role in helping shape the future direction of the service by delivering high quality evidence based interventions. The role is a deliberately varied one which has a balance between undertaking assessments and holding a clinical caseload. All PWP's are involved in delivering Guided Self Help, Psychoeducation Courses and Computerised programmes.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

PWP qualification from a British Psychological Society accredited PWP programme/apprenticeship If qualifying by the apprenticeship route have also passed the apprenticeship end point assessment Accredited with the BABCP or BPS as a PWP (or working towards accreditation if within six months of qualifying)

Desirable

Key skills in literacy, numeracy and IT Core profession in mental health nursing, social work, occupational therapy, psychology

Experience Essential

Experience of working with people with common mental health problems in an Talking Therapies setting Ability to demonstrate a range of experiences in offering and delivering a full range of evidence based Talking Therapies low intensity interventions Experience of screening, assessing and working with a range of mental health issues at step 2. Experience of working with and manging risk.

Desirable

Experience in drug/alcohol management. Experience of "Partnership working". Worked in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.

Skills Essential

Ability to implement NICE guidance for Step 2 interventions for mental health problems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills. Computer skills. Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients.

Desirable

Demonstrates knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health. Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
