About this role

Reporting to the Director of Network Services, the Network Engineer will design, configure, and implement networks. The Engineer will support MANIWAN, wired & wireless LAN, Firewalls, VPN and IP telephony technologies, and serve as a networking resource for the department.

The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: - Extensive knowledge and experience working on an expansive production network - Strong knowledge of designing, installing, upgrading, and configuring Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless network devices - Knowledge of VOIP, VIDEO and related QOS strategies as they pertain to optimizing the network to support these technologies - General knowledge of stateful firewalls, ideally CISCO ASA and Palo Alto firewalls - Experience troubleshooting networking issues related to switching, routing, Firewalls, VPNs - Experience supporting a Cisco wireless LAN, L2 trunking, port-channels, EIGRP, Metro-Ethernet - Experience supporting VPC, VSS and VRFs on various Cisco hardware - Experience with Network Management platforms such as Cisco ACS, SevOne & BMC products - Knowledge of dark fiber networks, DWDM & Cisco ONS technology - Demonstrated experience utilizing troubleshooting networking issues using tools such as Wireshark - Knowledge of IP subnetting, TCP/IP, UDP and protocols/applications such as ICMP, FTP, SSH, HTTP, NFS, iSCSI - Be able to explain the various components of the OSI model - Understanding of cabling and cabling limitations - Ability to create documentation in MS Visio, MS Word, and MS Excel
